National Treasure

Filed Under: Movies | Saturday, 04 August 2007

One of my favorite movies that I watch repeatedly, almost once a month since it came out on video I’d venture to say is National Treasure. I remember when it came out and how crowded the theatre was and how I had to see it on the first day it was out and how I had been waiting for it for so long. It was a good movie, what can I say *shrugs*

For some time now, I’ve been jonesing for the sequel. Occasionally I’d Google National Treasure 2 and very typically, IMDB would turn up as the number 1 hit, but today when I Googled it, excitement hit…for as many movies as I see you think that if there were a trailer out for National Treasure 2 that I’d know about it. But I didn’t know about it, this one has eluded me, but not any more. Disney finally has a National Treasure: Book of Secrets Official website up and it contains little more than the most elusive trailer I’ve been long awaiting.

If this movie is anything like the first one I expect to see at a minimum, some kind of secret (which is a given in the trailer, one I completely have never heard anything about, John Wilkes Booth and the missing pages from his diary, I’ve never heard of this man, I’m completely clueless, but he killed President Lincoln.) and a secret means a quest for the truth, a bad guy who is also after this “treasure” (there’s always a bad guy where there’s a treasure hunter) and as a bad guy he’s got to be hateful, and of course, there has to be a continuation of the romance seen in National Treasure between the good guy and the good girl.

I cannot even wait for this movie to hit theatres, but I’m going to have to wait until 12/21/2007 to see the goodness I’ve seen in the trailer. I’m also going to have to do some historical research and gain some understanding of John Wilkes Booth so that I’m not walking into this movie as historically dumb as I am now.

Also in the few months I’ve got until the release of this movie, I’ll download and play with the decoder. It said something about access to a hidden part of the National Treasure: Book of Secrets website. I’m excited to find out what it is that lies hidden to the masses.

I might also mention in closing because this is fairly important with when it comes to sequels that all the original actors (the good guys at a minimum) that were in National Treasure are in National Treasure: Book of Secrets. That means that this movie is something worth looking forward to :)
