Seven Falls Colorado

Filed Under: Adventures | Tuesday, 11 September 2007

On our way up to Longmont, CO a few weeks ago for the CO Tour de Cure grandma and I stopped in Colorado springs for lunch. While we were there I asked if we could go to Seven Falls. My grandma is such a good sport (and extremely cool for a 72 year old). She loves to do things like go to the various points of interests when traveling.

Going to Seven Falls was a nice little detour in our 8 hour trip (even though it had taken us 6 hrs to get to that point). It’s so beautiful up in the mountains. And I absolutely love waterfalls. It’s cool to finally have been to Seven Falls because I’ve had a shirt for probably 10 years that my parents got me when they visited but this was my first visit.

The first thing we did while we were there was take the elevator to the top of Eagle’s Nest Observation platform instead of climbing the 180-some-odd stairs to get to the top. It was the perfect place to view the falls and take pictures with them in the background.

After we were done at the observation platform we took the elevator down and went over to the base of the falls.

I was reluctant to climb all 224 stairs to the top because I had my bike ride the next day and everyone knows that running stairs is far more effecient than doing squats and so I was in full anticipation of sore quads/hammies the next day if I climbed them. Regardless, Grandma and I went up the first half together and then I sprinted up the remaining half. It was a nice little climb and my muscles did hurt slightly the next day, but not as bad as I figured they would’ve.

I’ve included a couple of pictures, but there are other pictures of this stop on my CO trip on my flickr page.
