Sharks and Monkeys

Filed Under: Dreams | Sunday, 18 November 2007

We jump from the plane, 3 of us, and proceed to immediately pull our parachutes, there’s not much time for freefall. I was the last to jump so after my parachute is out and working, I guide it over to the guy that jumped before me, and then we head towards the guy that jumped first. There’s some conversation, actually, me yelling at the guys about how we’re over water and that it’s shallow (only a couple inches deep) and that we need to come in like we’re landing on land and we need to grab our parachutes quickly because we don’t want them soaked. They just look at me and roll their eyes as if they needed to be told any of this. We all have a successful landing on our feet, grab our parachutes, and walk towards the center of the island.

As we’re walking, I notice that there are 2 sharks swimming near to the coast. I point them out to the guys “hey guys, look, sharks” and we all stop in our tracks, turn our heads, and squint as though it will help us see better. One of the guys says, “is that two sharks, or….nah it couldn’t be” the other guy finishes his thought, “a shark with two dorsal fins” we start to walk towards the shark. me “those dorsal fins are awfully close together for it to be two sharks” as we get closer, we’re no longer wondering about the sharks but why the water is so deep over here but so shallow where we landed. In our pondering of the water, we lose track of the shark(s).

We turn around and continue to head towards the center of the island. We eventually come to the parachute lockers, so we hang our parachutes knowing full well that by not packing them now we were going to have to come back and pack them later. We then walk towards the main building. As we’re doing so, we pass several pools, each pool has a shark in it. One of the guys goes up to the edge of a pool to get a close look at the shark, he mutters something about mutations. Him getting close to the edge was a big mistake as the shark jumped out and grabbed him by the torso snapping him in two. There was a magnificent display of blood being spurted everywhere. We were in range to get splashed with it too. It was terrifying.

We now knew that we had to avoid the pools. As we approached the building, the guy and I split paths. I went into the building to the psyche ward where I was put in a room with a man who was so not with it, my goal was to try talking to him. Mr. Frisbe was his name. The look in his eyes, he wasn’t with us. Doctors kept coming in and out, doing blood tests, adjusting the stuff running through his IV. One doctor took me aside and said that it was imperative that I get him to speak.

The doctors then left, the man’s eyes cleared up and he said, very clearly, “I need to get out of here, will you help me, you just have to think about me not being in here, please, help me”

Next thing I know, I’m staring out the window, watching monkey’s being unloaded from a truck, and an attempt being made at trying to get fences up to contain the monkeys as they dance around, and there, I see, Mr. Frisbe, in his gown, his ass showing, as he runs away. Interesting I think to myself as doctors run into the room screaming explicatives as to where Mr. Frisbe went. All I could ask was “what’s up with the monkeys”
