No White After Labor Day
Has anyone in the fashion society thought about how stupid this rule is and how it needs to be thrown out the wind? because in my opinion (however unfashionable it may be) it’s a stupid rule. It’d be like saying that we can’t wear black between easter and labor day, everyone would think that rule was crazy. It’s the same to me with the no white between labor day and easter. it just doesn’t make sense.
i can’t even find the history on this rule. it can’t just exist to exist…
does anyone know why this rule came into effect?

I think a lot of people in the fashion society break that rule regularly. It’s the ordinary citizens that adhere to it.
The only thing I found regarding the origins was this site on Ask Yahoo: http://ask.yahoo.com/20020913.html
Personally, I just don’t pay much attention to this.
I’ve been losing weight lately so I’ve been going through quite a few sets of clothes. Luckily I have other clothes in other sizes… from the gaining of the weight and now the losing of the weight. But, some of those clothes are very bright and summer-y. So it is now October and many days I wear bright/white/summer-y clothes. So what? The worst thing that could happen is that someone would look at me and think, “gasp, that girl’s wearing white after labor day, I don’t want her to be my friend/employee/coworker/etc.” And really, what am I losing then? Some shallow person doesn’t want to know me because I wore white after labor day… so what? Their loss, not mine!
