Flashbacks

Filed Under: TV | Thursday, 07 February 2008

I must admit that last week when I was watching LOST I was concerned that all we were going to get was flashforwards instead of flashbacks, that we had completely entered a new era of the series completely and what was and what had been was no longer going to matter. It was going to blaze itself a new trail.

warning, there are slight spoilers, if you haven’t watched the 02/07 episode of LOST yet, you’ve been warned, I’m going to share a few things.

I was very relieved tonight (after being slightly confused about Miles and what the hell he was doing tracking ghosts) that we were going to get flashbacks. But now there’s 4 more people that we get to learn about, the people that were supposedly there to save the Oceanic Flight 815 people, but then Charlie exposed them as peeps that weren’t there to do that (remember, it’s not Penny’s boat?), those people, we get to learn about their pasts now and that excites me, I’m not so worried about not getting flashbacks anymore this season, I’m quite excited to see what this puzzle piece is going to lead us into. That and we’re seeing a link already between the flashbacks of these new people and the flashforwards of Hurley’s.

The thing that excited me the most about tonight’s episode though was Charlotte, and her being out in the desert somewhere, and walking up to a skeleton and as she bent over, before she even said what it was, but after she said it wasn’t a dinosaur, I knew and shouted out, it’s a Polar Bear and I knew where it came from, and it was confirmed when a collar was found with the Dharma symbol on it. That’s what excited me the most, because of all thing things I was most intrigued by in the beginning of the series, was the polar bears that everyone was like “they aren’t all that interesting”. Well peeps, they just got interesting, they’re not just out in the jungle, they’re in the desert as well!

I can’t wait until next week…I’m counting down, only 7 more days!

LOST: Connections

Filed Under: TV | Monday, 28 January 2008

Last week I blogged about how I was plotting out all the character connections for LOST.

Today at work I’m discussing LOST with one of my co-workers. We’re very excited that there’s only 3 days before the beginning of Season 4 (and I’m all caught and and ready for it). She navigated over to the LOST site on ABC.Com and was scrolling around, and we found this LOST: Connections

lost connections

It’s a charting utility to see how everyone else relates (connects) to one another, it’s completely awesome. I’m still a little on the edge about whether or not someone being on tv or people being in the same place at the same time creates a connection, I’m even on the edge about interactions in the airport counting as a connection (although I did make note of the one between Locke and Rose on my chart).

I was very excited to see how much I knew and where I had missed pieces. The first person that I looked at was Jack.

jack connections

What’s really cool is that if you hover over a character it will tell you the episode that the connection was seen in and what it is…so what are you waiting for, go fill in the missing gaps in your head where the characters are concerned…make sure that you’re all ready for Thursday!

Lost Character Connections

Filed Under: TV | Sunday, 20 January 2008

I’ve mentioned on several occasions that one of my favorite things about Lost is the connections between the characters that are shown in the flash backs. Today I watched most of Season 3, I’m about a disc and a half away from being completely done with all the current episodes that are out and available to be watched. I’ve decided that most everyone knows each other within 1 or 2 degrees. I pulled out my journal and started jotting down how I thought people knew each other, it’s a mess of a diagram and not anywhere near complete. I’m gonna have to watch all 3 seasons again just to catch the connections between the characters, which I really don’t mind at all because I really love the series (I know, I just got attached to it, and in the span of 9 days I will have watched all three seasons, which I think amounts to approximately 68 episodes).

I Found Out What Happened

Filed Under: TV | Saturday, 19 January 2008

I just finished Season 2 of Lost, in a week’s time, I’ve watched all of Season 1 and Season 2 and I’m starting Season 3 now as I write this and I’m very excited for what happens next. A lot happened in Season 2. At the end of Season 1 they had blown open the hatch. During Season 2 we find that there’s at least 3 more of those things (if my count is right) and I discovered why the plane crashed. I also was sad to see a couple more people die and very much came to not like a certain character (*cough* Michael *cough*). I think I saw the french lady’s daughter. More of the survivor’s lives started coming together. The thing that most intrigues me about that is the fact that I know what happens in their past and how x knew y and y knew z and x and z met in passing and that they’ll probably never know it themselves. It kind of bums me out that they’ll not (perhaps) figure out that they knew each other.

There’s just so much going on and it’s all so cool and it draws me in. Did I mention that I know how the plane crash happened? Yeah, I think I know. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got an addiction to feed.

I don’t care for the tail of the plane

Filed Under: TV | Wednesday, 16 January 2008

I’m 8 episodes into Season 2 of Lost, there are a total of 20. We went down the hatch and found someone that I really didn’t expect to see, someone from Jack’s past. The remains of the raft were attacked by a shark, and the shark had the dharma symbol on it and the dharma symbol is seen in the hatch, the significance of it i’m unsure of. We met a few of the survivors from the tail end of the raft and let me just say that I really don’t like Anna Lucia and that when she dropped the gun and sword thing at Sayid’s feet and told him that he could take them and that she deserved it I really hoped he would’ve taken care of her and he didn’t and when he just took the gun and walked away towards Shannon’s dead body and he left the sword thing, I had really hoped that she’d pick it up and slit her throat, that didn’t happen either. I’m really curious about Mr. Ecko though, he’s an interesting character and I’d like to know more about him.

I do have a confession to make though. It was episode 6 when Shannon got shot. In episode 7 we get the whole story about the first 45 days of the people in the tail end of the plane. I skipped that episode when I realized what it was and I went onto episode 8 to find out what was going to happen next with the whole Shannon got shot thing and Sawyer was dying because of the infection in his body because of his bullet wound. That’s how little I cared about the people on the tail of the plane. Their story (at this point) is as insignificant as the fact that they were “Lost” in the first place. I will say this though, I’m glad that Bernard got returned to Rose.

What am I most curious about at this point? The symbol that was on the shark.

Oh, as another note, the whispers are starting to spook me a little. They’re raising the hair on my arms and neck. They’re kindof skeery.

Lost, it’s in my dreams

Filed Under: Dreams, TV | Tuesday, 15 January 2008

I’ve been watching a lot of Lost lately, probably too much, it’s pretty much consumed my free time (willingly of course, this isn’t anything that I’m doing not by choice). Saturday I started watching it, Sunday I finished watching Season 1, Monday I got in 3 episodes of Season 2. It’s just a slight addiction so have no fears, I’ll be able to wean myself off of it as soon as I finish with Season 3…Eh, who am I kidding, as I write this I’m jonesing for another episode, this is a deep addiction that came on quickly, I suffer from withdrawls while I’m at work, when I get home it’s the first thing I have to do, go to the TV and put another disk in, and now, it’s in my sleep.

This dream I had last night takes many parts out of the Lost show and puts them into my head:

I’m out in a jungle and there are tents everywhere, set up as though it were a compound of houses, there are people milling about, dogs barking. I’m having a conversation with a woman and all of the sudden there’s savage barking and mangy black haired wolves come running down the lane. People scatter fast, women and children are screaming. There’s a woman in a wheel chair trying to wheel away as fast as she can. One of the wolves is standing on the edge of the forest his teeth showing salivating heavily watching with his yellow eyes. Another woman runs over to the one in the wheel chair and picks her up, the woman stands on the little foot holders like she has no problem doing so, then she begins to have a fit, screaming about being put down and how she needs her shoes for therapy on Monday.

Caught Up on Lost, Season 1

Filed Under: TV | Monday, 14 January 2008

This morning at 1am I finished watching Lost, Season 1. 23 episodes of Lost, 16 hours 28.8 minutes of Lost. And after spending the entire weekend watching Lost, staying up till 4 am on Sunday morning and 1am on Monday morning and needing much sleep because of my marathon tv watching, I was depressed that I didn’t have Season 2 to start then and there the moment I watched the last second of Season 1. Can we say addicted.

So, what do I think? Well, I’m glad you asked. I’m blaming it all on Hurley. He’s been delivered to the origination of the numbers, the numbers that he feels cursed him. Curious as to what I’m talking about? Yeah, I’m sorry, people won’t answer my questions, they just say, watch it and be SURPRISED! so, I’m telling you the same thing, you’re gonna have to watch it.

What do I like the most? I like how these peoples lives are starting to weave together, not from their experiences on the island, but pieces of their pasts. It’s really cool.

What am I most curious about? I can’t answer that question, there’s too much stuff, so realistically, let me say this: if you’re wounded and you pour gun powder into the wound and light it (as unpleasant as it may be) will your wound be ok?

What do I want right now? I want to watch Season 2, so you’ll have to excuse me so I can get back to it. I’ve got a hatch to go down, I’ve got to see what’s down there. I’ve got to discover what the beast of the jungle is. I’ve got to find out how the polar bears got on the island. And the pirate ship, how the heck does a pirate ship end up on the middle of the island. And the french woman’s baby, do we ever get to meet her, she should be approximately 16 now. So many questions…

Lost

Filed Under: TV | Saturday, 12 January 2008

I didn’t want to do much of anything today. Truth be known, I didn’t want to crawl far from the bed. It’s just one of those lazy days, it’s Saturday, I didn’t want to get out of my pj’s, I just want to be a bum day. That’s pretty much what I did, after I woke up at noon, got showered and went back to lie on the bed and watch Lost all day. Since I didn’t have other TV shows to catch up on because of the writers strike, I had to take on a show that I didn’t normally watch.

Normally, I would’ve gone and caught up on the entire season of CSI, NCIS or something like that, something that I used to watch but don’t anymore. However, Jules has been off and on again mentioning the show Lost on ABC. I guess she’s been watching it with her husband. And in the beginning, she didn’t like it, but as time progressed she started getting more into it. So, this morning, armed with my laptop, my laziness, and the idea of Lost, I started watching it. And that is what I have done all day long, I’ve watched, thus far, 9 episodes of season 1 of Lost (thank you ABC for having all 3 seasons on your website in HD Streaming)

I was immediately hooked, I was wondering how it was that I didn’t care back in 2004 about this show. I remember seeing the commercials for it and I was like “eh, whatever” and never even watched the pilot. That just goes to show how oblivious I was to good TV back in 2004.

I got through part 1 of the pilot and was like “what’s in the jungle?”. As I progressed through the episodes I had more questions: is Mr. Locke bad? Why didn’t Sun leave the airport like she was supposed to at 11:15? Why hasn’t someone killed Sawyer yet? (he annoys me) What did Kate do? Why is there a polar bear in the jungle? Has the french woman’s distress call really been playing for 16 years 5 months? Who knocked out Savid when he was trying to figure out where the signal is coming from?

I’m totally hooked now, in fact, taking time out to write all this is killing me because I can’t exactly watch Lost and give it 100% of my attention but I had to share this with you peeps. This show is as good as a book that just can’t be put down.

I love how it goes back and forth between present and their pasts. I love that we’re getting to know some of the stories behind these people, it’s one of the big things that keeps making me ask questions, not so much what’s going on on the island, but what about their pasts.

Ok, I’ve got a lot to watch (season 1 has like 23 episodes or something good like that) and a lot to learn about these people. So if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go get another dose of Lost crack…

I kindof miss tv

Filed Under: TV | Friday, 11 January 2008

So, this is odd coming from me, simply because in general I could care less about TV. We don’t have cable at my house and when I’m at houses that have it I can generally care less. There’s a whole bunch of crap on TV and 99% of it is a waste of my time. However, there is the occasional indulgence of television: Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Pushing Daisies, Brothers and Sisters, Private Practice. And then there’s the I HAVE TO WATCH OR I MIGHT DIE: House. The occasional indulgences I don’t care if I miss because I could generally catch them online (however stupid ABC is limiting the episodes we can see and therefore catching all of them for the current season is near impossible, and don’t even get me started on how Women’s Murder Club isn’t available online).

But in all this non-watching of TV the lack of new episodes is killing me, and while I generally wouldn’t care, there’s something about just not having them that makes me miss TV. This whole writers strike thing is affecting my life. And I did some searching around and I guess that the last strike was in 1988 and it lasted far to long (22 weeks 6 days)…we’re already going on 9 weeks 5 days and it’s buggin me…

I want new episodes, so that late at night when I can’t sleep and I’m bored out of my mind, I can watch TV…that reminds me, I gotta go see if there’s a new episode of Gossip Girl, that’s my other show I try to watch online simply because I was reading the books, and for the record, I totally like the show much better than the books…

Women’s Murder Club

Filed Under: TV | Tuesday, 30 October 2007

I’ve read the books by James Patterson and was beyond ecstatic when there was a TV show coming to ABC based on the books. The problem, it’s on a Friday night, out of 3 shows they’ve aired, I’ve only caught 1, last week’s. To make matters more impossible, ABC doesn’t have the episodes online. Which really sucks, because if I miss a show on TV (and the only channel I watch is ABC) then I go to ABC within a couple days to watch it. If it’s no available online. I’m screwed. Women’s Murder Club is one of those shows that I got screwed on. Talk about depressing.

After a lot of time of searching the web, I found an outlet, a place to watch Women’s Murder Club actually. And to make it even better, no commercials, it plays straight through from start to end. It’s bliss.

So, go watch Women’s Murder Club online. Catch up with me…you might be a few episodes behind.
